Partner sales for a virtual event

Partner sales for a virtual event

As with traditional in-person events, partners and partner sales are an important part of virtual events too. For example, partners can be used to boost pre-sales, create awareness and share expertise. Partner sales are also an important part of the event from a financial point of view, as some events are entirely funded by partners. This blog post presents concrete tips for event organizers on partner sales for a virtual event

Top 10 reasons to get partners

  • Financial support
  • Efficiency on sales
  • Visibility and awareness through partners
  • Better reach of potential participants
  • Partners provide added value to participants through quality content
  • Productive assistance and support for the organization of the event
  • Opportunity to exchange services and expertise
  • Increasing the visibility of the event
  • Reinforcement of certain images, e.g. responsibility
  • Increased networks

How to make partners visible in a virtual event?

Planning for partner sales should start well in advance and should be done with sufficient time. It is also important to identify the person who will be responsible for the partners and act as their contact person.

Partners should be noticed well before the event, for example with marketing and communications. During the event, partners can be made visible as part of the event in a variety of ways. For example, a partner can be visible in:

  • Props in the broadcast studio
  • Videos and images included in the broadcast
  • Half time show of the broadcast
  • Marketing materials of the virtual event
  • Virtual event platform visuals
  • Sponsorship of a workshop, coffee room or broadcast
  • In the prizes of the giveaway
  • In your own partner department

Building partnership packages

Partner sales can be built at different levels and prices. When building them, it is worth bearing in mind what, to whom and why you are selling, and how you can create value for the partners. Before approaching partners, you need to have developed a complete idea of the partnership and why it is worth pursuing.

The partner package can be very simple, for example just a logo in the virtual event’s lobby, or very rich, including a wide range of visibility, participation in the event and communication tools on the event platform. To support sales, we compiled a list of what can be offered to partners:

  • Visibility:

- on the event’s website and social media
- on event’s materials, e.g. on a ticket or brochure
- on the virtual platform
-on props in the broadcast studio
- in the broadcast, e.g. partner’s own speech or advertisement

  • Named broadcast or workshop
  • Tickets for the event
  • Discount code campaign
  • Advertising campaign on social media
  • Partner room

The event organizer can influence the quantity and quality of content in the partner room and, if they wish, check it before the materials are placed on the event platform. Different packages may contain a different number of permitted materials. A partner room may contain, among with other things:

  • Text
  • Links and buttons
  • Images
  • Brochures
  • Videos
  • Giveaways
  • Polls
  • Own chat
  • Own group video discussion rooms
